Changing Plans...

Good Afternoon Everyone!


I've spent some time discussing rehearsal and concert plans with Mrs. Howard, and I'm now seeing that the May 13th concert plan is no longer a viable option. Due to restrictions on after-school events during leap testing, we cannot have students rehearse or perform after school any day after April 26th. In addition, a virtual performance seems like a more viable option than a live one.


So, After looking at our situation from many angles, this seems to be the only remaining way to have our students perform their music:

  1. 6th grade band members will video-record their pieces as a class during the school day on May 4th.

  2. 7th grade band members will stay after school on April 20th until 5pm. We will serve them pizza after school, and then head to the Gym to rehearse and video-record our pieces.

  3. 8th grade band members will stay after school on April 21st until 5pm. We will serve them pizza after school, and then head to the Gym to rehearse and video-record our pieces.

  4. 7th and 8th grade band members will be sent home with permission slips next week. These will need to be turned in in order to allow each child to stay after school.

  5. Each grade level will record 3 pieces. We will combine these recordings into one video, and we will release that video on jpjhband.com

  6. I am doing my best get a rushed delivery for our band polos. I'm hoping to have them here on April 15th. I will keep you posted!

  7. There will be no event on May 13th.

I am very sorry to be making these changes. I really appreciate everyone's flexibility, and I completely understand if there are conflicts with these new dates.
